A Slice, a Pint, a Peck of Perfection

Summer is flying by, and while we'll look forward to the delights of fall to come, mid-August is the time to squeeze in all the rest of what the season offers.

Pack a picnic and head up to Devil's Lake for a hike and beach day. Fresh watermelon now in from Flyte Family Farms will make a tasty dessert to cap the day.

Grilling evenings are still in ample supply and ParKelm Farm has you covered with a great selection of pastured pork & beef (pictured).

Of course sweet corn is still in season from vendors like JenEhr Family Farm, perfect for grilling, boiling or whipping up a batch of sweet corn salsa.

Enjoying the beauty of summer goes beyond the plate; it's the colors and aroma of fresh flowers, like gladiolas now in at Yang Family Produce or big bouquets of bright sunflowers to lighten the home.

For those looking for the perfect snack on the go during these last few weeks of August, Ten Eyck Orchard has returned just in time to give you a great selection of apples to pack along.

As the summer season starts to wrap up, many of you gardeners are busier than ever. For those without the green thumb, but still looking to step up your sustainability game, swing by the Green Box Compost booth to learn more about their home pick-up composting service.

We're expecting two great markets to round out August, full of seasonal favorites, market staples and a special event coming your way on August 27th, the return of the Zucchini Car Races! This kid-friendly event lets our youngest market goers build their own customer zucchini cars to race down our Zucchini Speedway. With all that to look forward to, we can't wait to soak up every last minute.

See you at market!

Market on the Move in 2023

We've got some big news to share regarding the 2023 market season. Many of you have already seen the news that UW Health is planning on building a new clinic in part of the market occupied lots starting next year.

With construction slated to begin next spring, we're happy to announce we'll be relocating to the MG&E Innovation Center inside University Research Park in 2023. Located about 1.5 miles south of our current location, the new market site will offer room for our vendors, along with ample parking space for our shoppers, as well as a shaded picnic area for everyone to relax and enjoy their market goods while listening to music and taking in those great market mornings.

We'll have more details to come later in the summer, but rest assured that the WCM will remain a great fixture of the west side community for years to come. For the remainder of 2022, you can find us each and every week at 750 University Row into early November.
