Father's Day Weekend

Father's Day Weekend

This coming Saturday marks the 10th(!) market of the season so far. Amazing to think we've made it through snow, rain and sunny days over the last ten weeks and it still feels like we're just getting started.

While we have a long season ahead, this Saturday marks the end for others, like Domann's Plants who will join us one last time for 2023 with their great selection of flowers, herbs and veggie starts for the garden. If you're behind getting things in, grab up one of their large pictured tomato plants and you'll be caught up in no time.

Farewells are tough, but new arrivals ease the pain. Soothe your sorrows with the first appearance of strawberries this Saturday, courtesy of Flyte Family Farm. Of course, the first week of berry season means you'll need to get yourself out early if you're hoping to snatch up a quart or two.

Father's Day is coming our way this Sunday, and you can't beat the market for gift ideas for the old man. Try a bottle of Ernie's African Kick Sauce if heat tickles his fancy, or grab a pound of beans from Alice Good Coffee if he can't be bothered without his cup of joe each morning.

If Dad is grill master in chief, you're in luck as Bryant Family Farms will have fresh, never frozen, chicken this weekend in whole and half birds or grab Dad his favorite steak from Highland Spring Farm.

While the grill is hot, try this yummy grilled asparagus in foil recipe and enjoy the fresh asparagus while the season lasts.

Before we sign off here and await your lovely faces at market Saturday morning, we have some great news to share. The Double Dollars program returns this Saturday, allowing FoodShare shoppers to match up to $20 each market through the middle of October. Scroll down below for more info.

So many great things to enjoy and look forward to as we jump into week ten. Strawberries are just the beginning, soon enough we'll be awaiting sweet corn, melons, blueberries and on and on.

See you at the market!

As a reminder to everyone, dogs are prohibited within the market area, though we welcome service animals at all times.
