June is National Dairy Month!
Hot enough for you? Summer is just beginning for many, but the temperature is ready to have us filling up the kiddie pools, watering our plants on a daily basis and looking for shade wherever we can find it.
Thankfully the early market morning was cool enough to get out and shop from the 43 vendors we had out last Saturday.
The journey was well worth it for those who came out, with rewards like the first sugar snap peas of the season coming in from Shoua Vang. They may have sold out early last week, but we're hearing loads more peas will be out this weekend, something great to look forward to.
Another great find this past weekend came from our newest addition to the market, Campo di Bella Winery with their artisan red wine vinegar, a great way to elevate your dishes.
Moving on into June, it's a great time to remind everyone that June is National Dairy Month! Being that we are in Wisconsin, we'd best be put out to pasture if we didn't celebrate and where better to revel than at the market with our great selection of Wisconsin cheese producers.
Fresh cheese curds tend to hog the dairy spotlight as it's hard to find a fresher product than those tasty delights made within 24 hours of market.
The curds are just tip of the iceberg when it comes to great dairy finds at the market though. Try some of that amazing Buttermilk Blue Cheese from Forgotten Valley Cheese (pictured) or the ever popular cottage cheese from Murphy Farms.
Our resident goat milk cheese producer Dreamfarm also offers you something special with their fantastic Rosebud cheese in a couple of options (pictured).
With three markets left in June, try out one of these suggested cheeses or search for your favorite block varieties from our other cheese makers, like Landmark Creamery, McCluskey Brothers Shillelagh Glen Farms or Farmer Johns' Cheese.
At least with all this heat, you can melt some cheesy market find without turning on the oven!
See you at market!
