B's Honey offering several varieties and bulk options for the winter

Last Market

Oh the perennial feeling of loss that comes with the end of the outdoor farmers' market season. May you never ease?

One last market to enjoy before we must succumb to the slumber of winter and boy are we thankful for the closing call.

A smaller market this weekend will still be filled with great options for the shopper ready to venture out in the forecasted cooler weather.

Whether you're after just one more locally based meal or ready to stock the pantry for the winter, you'll find some great local produce options. Giant leeks (pictured) and a variety of potatoes from Happy Valley Farm are perfect for whipping up this comforting slower cooker Potato Leek Soup.

For those with grandiose Thanksgiving plans, start with the basics and grab a bag of cooking onions (pictured) from JenEhr Family Farm, a variety of garlic from County Line Plants and Produce and some fresh celery from Blue Moon Community Farm to get all those great flavors started.

If you're still looking for a turkey, come early as Bryant Family Farms will be offering the last fifteen 10-16 pound birds, along with their final fresh, never frozen whole chickens of the 2021 market season.

Stocking the freezer is a must on the last market day, so swing by Highland Spring Farm for amazing selection of cuts from their Scottish Highland beef or stop by ParKelm Farm for their tasty pasture-raised pork. Next stop is McCluskey Brothers Shillelagh Glen Farms for their grass-fed USDA organic ground beef, and maybe a jug of their bourbon-barrel aged dark maple syrup too.

With freezer space filling up fast, you can move on next to Bonde Bee to ensure your winter honey supply is secure, with offerings as big as a gallon or more (pictured).

Loading up the larders for winter is all and good, but save the last of your market enjoyment for some fleeting and delicious finds, like a scone from Chris & Lori's Bakehouse, a fresh loaf of potato bread (pictured) from Honey Bee Bakery or a few of your favorite beef sticks from Murphy Farms.

So grab your totes & wagons, your hats & mittens and have those shopping lists ready. The final market of the season is here and we're gonna enjoy every minute of it.

See you at market!
