Mother's Day Weekend
Hanging baskets from Garden Gate Flowers,
a classic gift for Mother's Day
Mother's Day Weekend
In beams of warm sunshine, with music in the air, the first May market hit just right.
Those out in the opening hour had a crack at the season's first morel mushrooms (pictured) from Happy Valley Farm, a rare treat worth the early alarm.
Just across the aisle we were happy to welcome our newest vendor, Tend Native Plants. Their selection of native perennial starts will give you plenty of options to add some pollinator-friendly plants to your growing spaces.
Around the market more of our produce vendors have returned with spring's bounty. We spotted fresh greens & herbs from Sai's Garden, bundles of asparagus from Shoua Lee Vang and fresh rhubarb (pictured) from Live Jewelry Farm.
For rhubarb fans, give this pickled rhubarb recipe a try. It makes a great crunchy addition to salads, or on pickle trays and charcuterie boards.
All morning we saw flats of vegetable and flower seedings filling wagons, as the warming days called to our gardening shoppers. More starts to come this weekend, with great vegetable options from vendors like Emerald Meadows Family Farm, Urban Gourmet, Blue Moon Community Farm & several others.
For all you gardeners, or perhaps those with mothers who garden (hint hint), ease and soften those sore hands with Green County Hemp's CBD balm (pictured).
Speaking of Mother's Day coming up, the market is full of thoughtful, beautiful and delicious gifts, sometimes all in one.
Go classic with fresh flowers from Lor Farm, or for the longer effect, a hanging basket from Natalie's Garden & Greenhouse.
Another option, the Mother's Day breakfast in bed. Start with fresh beans from Alice Good Specialty Coffee for the perfect cup, then it's french toast with eggs from Bryant Family Farms, bread from Madison Sourdough and Open Kettle Farms' maple syrup.
Whatever route you choose, gifts from the market are always appreciated.
See you at market!
