Onwards into June

We are blasting through spring, and now that Memorial Day is behind us, the unofficial start of summer is here!

Our first big announcement of the week is the return of the Double Dollars program! Coordinated by the Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, the program lets FoodShare shoppers match up to $20 a week to spend on fresh produce around the market.

There are some updates on what the Double Dollars tokens can be spent on this season, so please check out the included graphic and we'll be happy to answer any questions for shoppers at the Info Tent where you can use your card.

Running through October, it's a great time for the program to return as we are seeing more and more fresh produce coming into market, like these pictured onions from Happy Valley Farm.

Elsewhere we've been spotting some great tasty greens, like arugula from Emerald Meadows Family Farm and fenugreek leaves from Shoua Lee Vang.

Flyte Family Farms will return to market this Saturday, and while we may need to be patient a few more weeks, that's a sure sign that strawberry season is close!

Shoppers have just a few weeks left to grab up vegetable and flower starts for the garden, but fear not as there's still a broad selection to be found, like these lovely pictured violas from Urban Gourmet.

Later this month, the market will be pulling up our stakes and moving over to the eastern three aisles of our parking lot as University Research Park repaves the aisles where we normally are, starting with market on June 15. Exact Sciences has kindly offered up their large parking lot on Charmany Drive for customers to use and still be able to park very close. Look for the signage as you drive in to direct you to the lot. The project will take 2-3 weeks and then the market will return to its normal placement.

On another site note, we want to remind everyone to please not walk through the tall grass plantings between the market aisles. We are working on a long term solution for future seasons, but for now we ask everyone to respect the wishes of University Research Park and not disturb their managed prairie plantings.

For a short month, we've got five great markets coming your way this June with all your favorites, plus those seasonal wonders like fresh berries and sugar snap peas. We can hardly wait!

See you at market!

Market Manager

As a reminder to everyone, dogs are prohibited within the market area, though we welcome service animals at all times.

Vendor & Weekly Market Notices

Flyte Family Farms will return to the market this Saturday, June 1st.

There is an ongoing GoFundMe campaign to aid the family of Kenny Jasengou, son of Kelly Lor of Lor Farm as Kenny currently fights for his life after multiple surgeries related to a damaged heart and aortic valve stemming from a bacterial blood infection. A father of 5 and all around kind person, Kenny has been a long time friendly face of the market, aiding his mom over the years selling flowers and produce. Those interested in donating can find more information here.

West Star Organics has finished vending for the season. We wish them the best over the summer and look forward to seeing them next year.

Tortillas Los Angeles is looking for support as they upgrade and expand their farm & kitchen equipment. Learn how you can lend a hand here.

Market Lot Repaving

The parking lot aisles where the market is held will undergo repaving starting June 10th. During the 3-weeks the work is being done, the market will relocate to the eastern three aisles in the same lot and the western aisles and entrances will be closed to traffic. We anticipate this to affect the markets on June 15th, 22nd, & 29th.

Customers will still be able to park along Rosa Road, Charmany Drive and also utilize the large parking lot just across the street behind Exact Sciences on Charmany Dr as well. The market will return to our normal placement within the MG&E Innovation Center lot once the work is completed.
